Marshmallow room
In this art piece I made the choice to create a room in a mental health facility and I added in sterile unsettling audio clips as well as flickering lights, a worm spinning and a panda waving to help express the characters psychosis. My goal for this work is for the viewer to look at it and understand the context of the environment around them without having to think too hard. The animations give the viewer a better idea of the environment because they are so out of place that it helps you understand they are hallucinations. The audio does a decent job of representing an asylum with the help of the laughing and rustling in fabric in addition to the buzzing sound. The only places I wanted to look colorful were the character and his hallucinations because he is supposed to be closed off from it. I put the viewer at eye level with the character and they are meant to be just another one of the characters hallucinations.
